Just want to send a special "Thank You" to High Point Woods Apartments!

I would like to say "Thank You" to High Point Woods Apartments. My husband and I moved to High Point Woods last August, about a month after losing Alivia. It has been so nice living here, and we appreicate your kindness. Thank you for being so understanding and supportive. High Point Woods has agreed to be a drop off center for donations within the Madison area as well within the complex. They agreed to let us hang flyers on the bulletin boards in the buildings. I hope that having this support and option will be helpful and benefit everyone involved. Again, Thank you High Point Woods for all of you help, and being so supportive.

Here's to Success!!

Exciting news!!

Today we met with the NICU Manager and the Meriter Foundation to discuss how we can make this donation drive successful. They had some great ideas, and we are so excited. One of the major things we discussed was the best way for cash or credit card donations to be received is by having it done directly through the Meriter Foundation. Any cash or credit card donations received will be used to help the Bereavement Support Program. This program provides education for Birthing Center and NICU staff as well as supplies for families experiencing a loss.

After a family experiences a loss, they are given a memory box with several items that the family can use to help remember their child by. We were given a cute pink box after we loss Alivia; inside the box was many things that we could use to have in memory of our daughter. When we received the box, it had a small candle, a teddy bear, a small blanket, and several other things to help keep her memory. We now keep the memory box on a shelf in our guest room, and it holds all of the Alivia's special items. We have added several items of our own to the box including a lock of her hair, her identification badges from the hospital, our first family photo, and so many other special things to us. We like having it near by so that when we want to look at it, its right there.

Also the training that the NICU Staff receives is very helpful in assisting a family who have just experienced a loss. Our nurses were so wonderful and made us feel so comfortable, and experienced our loss with us.

We want to be able to help the Bereavement Support Program in any way. So please make a cash or credit card donation in honor of our daughter, Alivia, and assist in the program offered by the Meriter Foundation. It truly is a wonderful and much needed program.

A donation can be made through Meriter's website directly. The link is located on the right hand side of this page. On Meriter's website, you'll find a place where it mentions Alivia's Angel Gift, and make a donation.

Meriter's website is:

We are so excited to introduce this new addition to the donation drive, and hope we can assist the Bereavement Support Program.

Wish Lists at Babies R Us and Target

Hello, well, since we can't have booths or leave flyers on the counters at some of the places that we wanted to, we made Wish Lists on these places as a way for you to look at things, and get a good idea of what the NICU needs. These are just suggestions, not things that you have to buy. I just wanted to give everyone options. I am going to keep trying about getting a booth, but who knows. But the Wish Lists can be retrieved by going to:

www.target.com
and search under Target Lists
put my name "Liz Quinn" and under organization put "Alivia's Angel Gift"
the NICU Donation Drive List should show up, and you are all ready to go

You can also go to the store and do the same search there as well.

OR

www.babiesrus.com
and search under my name "Liz Quinn" and then the list should show up, and you are all set to go.

You can also go to the store and so the same search there as well.

I hope this helps everyone, and it should help get more donations. I will keep you updated! Thanks!

Thank you Dixie Deal from Portage, WI

Thank you Dixie for your donation. All of the onesies and sleepers will be so helpful for the NICU. I know they needed boy stuff, so it is so nice to have the first donation be boy items. Thank you again so much for you donation. I really appreicate it.

Frustrated, but still going...

Well, we have put all kinds of flyers out about the donation drive so hopefully that will help spread the word, and we will get some donations. We have asked several places like Babies R Us, Carters, and Children's Place, and other places to have the flyers out, but most of them said they can't hang flyers or keep flyers on their counters because it soliciting. It frustrates me that they can't make an expection for such a great cause, but I am not going to let it get upset me. We decided that we are going to make "Wish Lists" at some of these places including Babies R Us and Target, and people who want to donate can look at the "Wish List" and purcharse things needed. Hopefully that will be helpful, and a good alternative to not being able to set up a booth and having flyers out on counters. We are still posting flyers everywhere. I am working with our apartment complex about making it a donation drop off place, and posting flyers around the complex, so we'll see about that. I am hoping to have the donation drive be seen on the news and in the newspaper. I want to make this very successful, and hope that I can get all kinds of help, and donation. I know that the little struggles we come across will only make this better.

On a better note, we did get our first donation from an old friend, and I am so happy that she was able to donante and wanted to honor my daughter. I will post pictures of what she donated later in the week. Thank you again!
